Canhe is a cross-media artist and researcher whose practice centers on the relationship between technology and human life. Situated at the intersection of critical theory and technology studies, his work investigates how contemporary technologies intervene in, influence, and restructure individual everyday experiences. His research focuses on the tensions between technological power structures, cultural transformation, and the agency of ordinary citizens, particularly examining how dominant techno-narratives reshape individuals’ positions within social structures.
In the next stage of his practice, Canhe aims to shift from a critical observer to an active co-constructor. He proposes a speculative framework grounded in temporary alliances between “ordinary humans” and “ordinary machines,” and plans to explore this concept through practice-based experiments. This approach seeks to respond to the intensifying conditions of digital colonialism and technological hegemony in the context of global systems. His artistic work spans installation, moving image, sculpture, and wearable objects, through which he transforms theory-based research into visual and experiential forms.
Beyond his artistic practice, Canhe has extensive experience in the fields of digital art and cultural communication. He has provided digital art services for organizations such as Adidas International, the National Museum of China, Alibaba, and Cosmopolitan China. In 2022, he was signed as a digital artist by Output. Currently, he is a co-founder of R&C Design Studio, an experimental design practice focusing on methodologies that integrate generative AI and material culture to explore contemporary forms of cultural heritage reproduction.
Additionally, Canhe currently serves as a visiting lecturer at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, teaching courses on cultural heritage innovative design empowered by GenAI technology, as well as art design courses based on new technologies.
