A million years ago, fragile humans lit fires on stone altars and prayed to the gods. They burned wood, offered gifts, and watched the smoke rise to the heavens, believing it carried their wishes to paradise.  

Today, humans call themselves masters of the planet, yet they still pray. Their altars have transformed into data centers glowing with blue light. They no longer burn wood but use electricity. Priests have become computer engineers, and their new deity is called "Data." The hum of servers has replaced the ancient songs of prayer.  

Beyond these so-called masters, there exist other witnesses: carbon has seen it all. It once lingered in the smoke of ancient fires. Now, it resides in the materials of modern computers. It no longer burns on altars but flows through the cooling systems of data centers.  

Humans believe they are different from their ancestors. Yet, they continue to do the same things in new ways. Beneath all our modern technologies, carbon endures. It observes humanity reshaping their beliefs, watching as they shift from pleading to demanding energy.
